I had the unforgetable opportunity to visit all 500+ my adorable 'kids'(mostly AIDS orphans) in the summer of 2001. I could hardly contain my tears as they came running up to our van that hot afternoon. They were beautiful. Most kids had torn and stained school uniforms. No shoes. No toilets. No desks or chairs. A church with no roof. Little mud huts everywhere.... You get the picture. I fell in love with my own sponsored child, Brenda, and all of her quiet, parent-less friends. I wanted to somehow facilitate a new beginning for them. My privilege of raising awareness for them and millions of other AIDS orphans and victims just like them, as well as all the other 'last', 'lost' and 'least' of the world -- is exactly that: a privilege. I have been blessed ... to be a blessing!
For the last several years, my Photographic Greeting Cards have been a way to help raise awareness for them, but now that the Community of Makhai is supporting itself, I am prayerfully discovering another way that I can use my amateur photography.
