1. -- Shout For Joy! -- A joyful and lively praise anthem taken right from Psalm 96 that calls for God’s Creation to praise Him with “everything they’ve got!” “Shout for joy to the Lord all the earth! Let’s write a song with jubilant music! Raise the flags and wave the banners!...” (this song will make you want to turn up the volume and dig around in your closet for your old roller skates! Think early 80’s ABBA!)
2. -- Born Again -- A lively prayer song that kids LOVE to sing! It allows kids to sing to the Father, affirm their ‘new-creation-position’ in Christ and link His Death and Resurrection to their experience of Salvation in an affirming, theologically-sound prayer!
3. -- Unto The Lord -- A JUBILANT inter-generational praise song written to help children & adults alike respond to God EXPRESSIVELY (not just with the mind and vocal chords, but physically!) The women at my retreats love this one! Time to kick up yer heals! (think techno / country barn dance!)
4. -- Mr. Tongue -- Based on James Chp. 5, this is a comical, ‘musical-style’ song about taming “Mr. Tongue” with lots of electric guitar! One of the greatest evidences of our spirituality is how we talk to and about people, especially those who are closest to us. Being transformed by God’s grace will always squeak out of our mouths…or not! This is the children's favourite song!
5. -- Morning Prayer -- I wrote this prayer song as a young child (and will sing it as a duet with Moriah!) It was the cry of a pre-teen’s heart that is transferable to any person’s cry for God’s Holiness to permeate them. And yet, God isn’t finished with us and is patiently forming us into who we are to become. Great way to start the day! “...Love me into Holiness with Your embrace…”
6. -- Nothing Can Ever Separate Me -- Based on Romans 8:35. This song affirms the unconditional love of God that “nothing can ever separate me, from Your Love… If I’m way up high, or way down low, Your Love will never let me go!...” This is a great song with actions that both pre-schoolers, silly teenagers & adults alike will love due to it's Jamaican "Boney M" undertones!
7. -- J-E-S-U-S! -- To the tune of B-I-N-G-O and F-U-N for every age! Another fun song which affirms Christ as the Source of Life and Salvation! I introduced this to 1,000 family camp worshippers this summer, and the clapping along was deafening! Who says discipleship can’t resemble a party!? Has it been a while since you've heard a cool banjo? One of the kids' favourite songs!
8. -- Rainbow -- I wrote this song for my children. (And Chris did a BEAUTIFUL job of producing it!) It purposefully links inner transformation to being awakened to God’s amazing love, not trying harder! Brenda says this is officially the first children’s worship song ever written with the word “wickedness” in it! We both agree: We’ve fallen short of the glory of God, but praise God! It is His kindness that leads us to repentance! We must bring come alongside the Holy Spirit’s work in bringing our children to a point of despair over their sin, and then lead them straight to the HOPE of the Cross (the Gospel), then straight into GRATITUDE!
9. -- I Belong to the Father -- A beautiful intergenerational worship song affirming our adoption as sons and daughters It is based on 1 John’s tender references to being the children of God, and our sealed relationship to the Father. This is a love song sung to the Father and has become a favourite in our own church… Vocally, I "getter done" and let loose! (It will also be the first single from the CD!)
10. -- Where Your Spirit Is -- Another intergenerational worship song affirming the Freedom, Love, Joy & Peace in Christ through His Holy Spirit. “Where Your Spirit is, there is peace beyond compare, there is joy and love there, where Your Spirit is, there is freedom like a child, breathe on me and let Your Love run wild! And You begin to pour out Your Liberty…You are Peace….Joy…Love…”
11. -- The Party Song-- This one is definitely for the teenagers -- but look out! This is one of the most important songs I’ve ever written for the Church. The missional heart of God is evidenced continually in Scripture via His scandalous grace towards the lost, the last, least & the little! The Kingdom of God is like a party, a wedding feast, a banquet where WE get to “GO” and do the inviting!
12. -- For God So Loved The World -- An intergenerational Scripture worship song that is simple and to-the-point. I believe that putting John 3:16 to music helps us stay connected to The Great Commission and therefore helps us empower our children to grasp a spiritual / world view which keeps their focus on His will for us: ‘that we have been blessed to be a blessing’! (sr)
13. -- We Will Clap Our Hands (the ethnic KIDS version!) -- This was the very first recorded song on my debut Nashville CD, Oasis of Thirst! It has been officially "kicked up a notch" and re-recorded with unmistable ethnicity! It featured the Renaerts Family and their collection of very cool African drums. It also features the MEI Chilliwack Kids Choir!
